When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you are trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must--but don't you quit.
My grandmother wrote that on an index card. It's one of those things that you have, but don't usually think about when you are actually trudging and end up sighing, even though you probably should look at the index card your grandmother wrote so that you can keep going. It's nice. I like that my grandmother wrote it down from somewhere that she read it.
This morning on the drive to school the moon was so huge and low. I was listening to Patty Griffin and it was cold out. I was driving down this winding road that goes by the back of the airport and this great big cemetery and the moon was hanging down in the trees and I pictured a cartoon Linus with his dirty blue blanket sitting in the pumpkin patch awaiting the Great pumpkins and felt sad for my childhood.
it's been beautiful and nostalgic lately. monday i had to stop what i was doing in my office to watch the full moon set out my window.
ReplyDeleteyeah, okay, i get to work insanely early. but still, it was really pretty.
